Tolls, airport fees and bigger cars

A toll is added only when your route uses a toll road, and many trips from the north and west carry no toll at all. The $5.26 airport pickup fee applies only to trips that start at a terminal. Silver Service adds $11.00 to the same trip, and a maxi taxi or SUV adds $17.80. Evening, overnight and weekend night tariffs cost more than the day rate.

Questions

Melbourne taxi questions

How much is a taxi from Melbourne Airport to the CBD?

A sedan taxi from Melbourne Airport to the Melbourne CBD is about 25 km, with an estimated fare of $69 to $85 on the day rate. That includes the CityLink toll and the $5.26 airport pickup fee, which is why it costs a little more than the $64 to $79 trip the other way. Put both addresses into the form on this page for an instant estimate of your exact trip, or call or email for a fixed quote before you travel.

Can I book a Melbourne taxi in advance?

Yes. Choose "Book for later" when you book, then set the date and time you need the car. Advance bookings are useful for early airport runs, hospital appointments and anything where missing the car matters.

Do you have taxis with baby seats in Melbourne?

Yes. Tick the child seat option when booking and tell us the age of the child, and the correct restraint is fitted before the car arrives. The fee for the seat is arranged as part of your fare, not a flat add on charge.

How many people fit in a maxi taxi?

A maxi taxi seats up to eleven passengers with room for luggage, which makes it the right choice for group airport transfers, family trips and nights out where one car beats three.

How is the fare worked out?

The fare is built from a flag fall, then either a rate per kilometre or a rate per minute depending on how fast the car is moving, and which tariff applies depends on whether the trip starts during the day, the evening, or a Friday or Saturday night peak. A typical daytime trip starts from a flag fall of $5.40, then $2.10 per kilometre or $0.70 per minute, plus any tolls, an airport pickup fee or a larger vehicle. Those rates come from Safe Transport Victoria's published maximum fares, and every line is itemised in the estimate so you can see what you are paying for. The online figure is an estimate, so traffic, route changes and waiting time can move the final fare.

Can I get a fixed price taxi in Melbourne?

Yes, by phone or email. The fare shown when you book online is an estimate worked out from the published tariff. If you would rather agree a fixed price before you travel, call (03) 9009 0051 or email 13taxinorthsuburban@gmail.com with your pickup, drop off, date, time and the car you need, and we will send a fixed quote. Once you accept it, that is the price for the trip as quoted.

Can I cancel or change a booking?

Yes. Call or message us as early as you can. There is no fee to cancel when you give at least two hours notice before the pickup time. Late cancellations and no shows are covered in our cancellation policy.
